TAIGA Colors a different way of doing design

Today I want to present you and recommend a very special Finnish design shop for your purchases
TAIGA Colors is located in the heart of Helsinki, between the Market Square and Senate Square in Tori Quarters and also belongs to Design District Helsinki
When I visited this interesting little but nice shop I met the founder of TAIGA Colors, the photographer and designer Jutta Kuure, and her told me that has always loved the colors and when she  was a little girl his best friends were the pens and a kaleidoscope
TAIGA Colors  is a Finnish design company specialized in pattern design, and has its own bag and interior design collection ( their customers include for example the Finnish Defence Forces, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and Team Finland)  for private customers
The key values of TAIGA Colors  are high quality and 100% Finnish work, their  patterns include Finnish nature and urban Helsinki themes, all  the patterns are created by Jutta Kuure
In autumn 2014 Jutta Kuure designed patterns on Finnish nature and urban Helsinki, named them TAIGA Colors, and ran a successful crowd-funding campaign for the collection, in  December 2014 TAIGA Colors Helsinki is opened
Very interesting is the story of Juuso bear that gave Jutta the inspiration to create a new collection that includes cushions, bags and zipper pouches
The Predator Center in Kuusamo has six brown bears, and one of them, Juuso, loves painting and “JuJu Collection”  is designed based on Juuso’s original paintings
All Taiga Colors items, also the “JuJu Collection”, are manufactured in Finland.
The material used on Taiga Colors products has been certified bear-proof, since Juuso has tested the products  – 10 % of the sales of the “ JuJu Collection” is donated to The Predator Center in Kuusamo

Jane Moy vive da 10 anni alla periferia di Brisbane, in Australia, in un bellissimo sobborgo chiamato Wellington Point
Si è trasferita lì dopo aver vissuto in una piccola città di campagna per gran parte della sua vita ed è proprio con l’arrivo a Wellington Point che è iniziato il suo viaggio fantastico nel mondo di Millinery
La passione per i capelli l’ha sempre avuta creando copricapi per lei stessa per i vari eventi, e disegnando i vari modelli anche se in una comunità rurale non vi era un reale accesso a corsi di formazione o di modisteria e quindi era più che altro un’autodidatta
La passione per la creatività l’ha ereditata da sua madre che aveva un grande talento ed era una tessitrice di cesti e mentre viveva in campagna ha passato molte ore ad affinare le sue capacità creative attraverso tecniche di ricamo, bordatura e cucito; tutte abilità che usa ancora oggi nella sua  Modisteria
Una volta a Brisbane ha avuto l’opportunità di accedere ad alcuni corsi di formazione, oltre a molti workshop e corsi per imparare e sviluppare l’arte della modisteria
Ha così avuto modo di diventare padrona assoluta di quest’arte così particolare che è la modisteria ed è riuscita a trasmettere agli altri le sue emozioni attraverso le sue creazioni che prendono forma partendo da ispirazioni che le possono arrivare da un semplice fiore che vuole ricreare su di un copricapo o dai colori e la cultura trasmessa dalla visita a un paese straniero
Jane ama sperimentare e giocare con i colori  e prova nuove tecniche con mezzi diversi  sui suoi copricapo per far emergere la loro individualità
La sua creatività a volte la porta come a camminare su una corda tesa senza rete, una volta iniziato sa che deve andare avanti e solo alla fine avrà tra le mani il risultato della sua inventiva
Jane mi ha detto che continuerà a fare cappelli perché sono davvero il suo amore e le hanno dato l’opportunità di esprimere la sua creatività attraverso questa forma d’arte e come non crederle visti i grandi apprezzamenti ricevuti dai suoi cappelli!

 

 

 

Jane Moy live from 10 years on the outskirts of Brisbane, Australia, in a beautiful suburb called Wellington Point
She moved there after living in a small country town for much of her life and it was with her arrival in Wellington Point that her fantastic journey to the world of Millinery began
She has always had a passion for hats by creating headpieces for herself for the various events, and designing the various models even if in a rural community there was no real access to training courses or millinery and therefore it was more than anything else. self taught
Her passion for creativity got it from her mother who was talented  and basket weaver and  while she  lived in the country she spent many hours sharpening her creative skills through fine embroidery techinques, beading and sewing; all of which she still uses today in her Millinery
Once in Brisbane she had the opportunity to access some  formal training, as well as to many workshops and courses to learn and develop the art of millinery
She was able to become the absolute master of this particular art, which is the millineryand managed to convey her emotions to others through her creations that take shape starting from inspirations that can come to her from a simple flower she wants to recreate on a headpiece or from the colors and the culture transmitted from a visit to a foreign country
Jane loves to experiment and play with colors and try new techniques with different means on her headpieces  to bring out their individuality
Her creativity sometimes leads her to walk on a tight rope without a net, once she starts she knows that she must go on and only at the end she will have in her hands the result of her inventiveness
Jane told me that she will continue to make hats because she really love them and they gave her the opportunity to express her creativity through this art form and how not to believe her given the great appreciation received by her hats!

Olivia Rose Turner è una giovane modista britannica di 23 anni che vive e lavora in Buckinghamshire, UK
Ha studiato inglese e scrittura creativa alla Royal Holloway University di Londra ed a metà del suo diploma di laurea in arte ha dovuto lasciare a causa della forte ansia
Dopo aver lasciato gli studi, non ha rinunciato al suo sogno di riuscire in una carriera creativa e ha iniziato a fare cappelli, in parte per motivi terapeutici ma anche e soprattutto perchè attratta da sempre dal mondo dei cappelli
Olivia Rose proviene da una lunga serie di Showmen inglesi: un business, uno stile di vita e una società che è stata tramandata attraverso molte generazioni, la sua famiglia, opera e viaggia con attrazioni fiere e divertimenti a Londra e dintorni
Dopo aver frequentato Royal Ascot per 5 anni consecutivi, ed essendo un ospite di matrimoni seriale, Olivia Rose ha sempre avuto un grande apprezzamento per cappelli e copricapo. Gli Showmen conoscono molti altri showmen, e quasi sempre si sposano all’interno dell’azienda, e per questo motivo ci sono molti matrimoni in questo ambiente lavorativo
I matrimoni degli Showmen sono spesso elaborati e le donne indossano sempre cappelli che spesso si abbinano perfettamente ai loro abiti, è un vero spettacolo! Queste signore molto alla moda hanno costituito all’inizio la sua base clienti e sono state i migliori modelli e sostenitori del suo lavoro
Olivia Rose è prevalentemente autodidatta, ma ha completato alcuni corsi quando voleva imparare come fare determinate tecniche o lavorare con materiali specifici. Tuttavia, piuttosto che seguire esclusivamente i metodi di questi modisti, ha cercato di sviluppare un proprio stile che le ha permesso di produrre copricapi unici
Quest’estate Olivia Rose è diventata una modista pluripremiata nel Regno Unito e in Spagna. Ha vinto il primo Best Millinery Award di Newmarket, ospitato dal talentuoso Ana Bella Millinery, e poi ha vinto il miglior cappello nella categoria “Spiaggia” alla La Palma Hat Week , organizzato dall’affascinante Judith e Karl Kinsky, e giudicata da una giuria di rinomati mugnai e professionisti del settore. Ha anche presentato due cappelli alla Great Hat Exhibition della London Hat Week all’inizio di quest’anno, e uno dei suoi cappelli è stato selezionato dall’adorabile Monique Lee, per presentarsi in una piccola collezione alla festa di anteprima stampa presso il flagship store Pinko a Londra.
Avendo acquistato molti cappelli e copricapo su misura prima della sua carriera di modista, Olivia Rose sa cosa vuol dire essere nella posizione del suo cliente e per questo cerca di essere molto comunicativa con i suoi clienti, le piace dare loro molte opzioni, idee e aggiornamenti sul processo, in modo che diventino parte della creazione e il risultato sia un cappello davvero su misura, non solo un capo affascinante che accompagna il loro vestito. Il suo obiettivo primario è sempre quello di creare copricapi di alta qualità, unici, comodi e intercambiabili con diversi outfits
Nell’industria della moda in questi giorni si è fatta strada l’idea della moda usa e getta; il che significa che un abito può essere indossato solo una volta perché è stato catturato e documentato sui social media.
Ma Olivia Rose non scende a compromessi sullo stile “usa e getta”, vuole che i suoi cappelli siano amati, apprezzati, curati e indossati più e più volte, un pezzo di “head art” non solo un accessorio.
Olivia Rose ama i cappelli perché sono naturalmente più architettonici degli abiti e hanno la capacità di fornire struttura, equilibrio e simmetria al vestito e al corpo di una persona. Adora i colori, i drammi, le stampe contrastanti, le perline, i ricami, i fiori e adora mescolarli! . Io credo che il suo stile possa in parte essere attribuito al suo background di Showman; essere cresciuta nei luna park, ha sicuramente influenzato la vivacità e il dramma dei suoi copricapi. Anche la sua passione per l’artigianato è in qualche modo ereditata, gli antenati di sua nonna erano persone del circo e lei la confrontava con la sua bisnonna che creava i costumi per gli spettacoli.
Attualmente Olivia Rose lavora da sola e ha creato il suo laboratorio in una stanza della casa in cui vive con i genitori nel Buckinghamshire, usa la sua roulotte disabitata come spazio di archiviazione e sta pianificando, con l’aiuto del suo fidanzato, la trasformazione della roulotte in un laboratorio mobile, dove può lavorare mentre viaggia per Londra
La sua modisteria ha ripristinato la sua fiducia e le ha permesso di attingere a tutti i suoi interessi e le sue abilità per lavorare in un modo adatto alla dualità della sua vita. Olivia Rose è alimentata dalla sua passione per l’artigianato che le consente di scolpire bellissimi pezzi che a loro volta fanno sentire belli anche le sue  clienti.

Showmen weddings are often elaborate and women always wear hats that often match their clothes perfectly, it’s a real show! These very fashionable ladies initially formed their client base and were the best models and supporters of her work
Olivia Rose is predominantly self-taught, but completed some courses when she wanted to learn how to do certain techniques or work with specific materials. However, rather than following exclusively the methods of these milliners, she tried to develop her own style that allowed her to produce unique headpieces
This summer Olivia Rose has become an award-winning milliner in the UK and Spain. She won the first Newmarket Best Millinery Award, hosted by the talented Ana Bella Millinery, and then won the best hat in the “Beach” category at La Palma Hat Week, organized by the charming Judith and Karl Kinsky, and judged by a jury of renowned milliners and professionals in the industry. She also presented two hats at London Hat Week’s Great Hat Exhibition earlier this year, and one of his hats was selected by the lovely Monique Lee, to feature in a small collection at the press preview party at Pinko’s flagship store in London.
Having purchased many hats and bespoke headpieces before her millinery career, Olivia Rose knows what it means to be in the position of her client and for this she tries to be very communicative with her clients, she likes to give them many options, ideas and updates on the process, so that they become part of the creation and the result is a truly bespoke hat, not just a fascinator that goes with their dress . Her primary objective is always to create high quality, unique, comfortable and interchangeable headpieces with different outfits.
In the fashion industry these days the idea of throwaway fashion has made its way; which means that a dress can only be worn once because it has been captured and documented on social media.
But Olivia Rose does not compromise on the throwaway fashion, she wants her hats to be loved, appreciated, cared for and worn over and over again, a piece of “head art” not just an accessory.
Olivia Rose loves hats because they are naturally more architectural than clothes and have the ability to provide structure, balance and symmetry to a person’s dress and body. She loves colors, dramas, contrasting prints, beads, embroidery, flowers and loves to mix them! . I believe his style can partly be attributed to her Showman background; having grown up in fun fairs, it certainly influenced the liveliness and drama of her headdresses. Even her passion for crafts  is somehow inherited, her grandmother’s ancestors were circus people and she compared Olivia Rose with her great-grandmother who created costumes for the shows.
Olivia Rose currently works alone and has set up her workshop in a room in the house where she lives with her parents in Buckinghamshire. She uses her uninhabited caravan as storage space and is planning, with the help of her boyfriend, the transformation of the caravan in a mobile lab, where she can work while traveling to London
Her millinery restored her confidence, and allowed her to draw upon all her interests and skills to work in a way that suits the duality of her life. Olivia Rose is fueled by her passion for craft which allows her to sculpt beautiful pieces that in turn make her clients feel beautiful too.

Cynthia Jones-Bryson è una modista australiana pluripremiata, è nata a Delegate nel New South Wales e ora vive nella capitale Canberra
Cynthia negli ultimi 16 anni ha progettato e realizzato fantastici modellini pluri premiati
Cynthia ha studiato Fashion Design al Canberra Institute of Technology, con la Modisteria come una delle sue materie preferite, inutile dire che eccelleva e si innamorò della Modisteria
Completati gli studi a Canberra, Cynthia ha vissuto a Londra per diversi anni dove ha intrapreso un certo numero di corsi di modisteria teatrale e il suo amore per tutto ciò che il copricapo era ormai una dipendenza
Ed è proprio a Londra che la sua passione e la sua dipendenza per tutto ciò che riguarda il copricapo si è accesa ancor di più dopo aver completato un certo numero di corsi di Millinery teatrale con la famosa Modista teatrale Jane Smith

L’Assenzio, la cosa più poetica al mondo..

Che differenza c’è tra un bicchiere d’assenzio ed un tramonto?
Oscar Wilde aveva la risposta: “Un bicchiere d’assenzio è la cosa più poetica al mondo”.
Così Londra scopriva l’esaltazione di  quello che Baudelaire battezzerà  la Fata Verde nella Parigi creativa e scapigliata dei suoi tempi.

liscio: si beve direttamente come tale, servito in un bicchiere piccolo.
alla francese: è il rituale classico. Si versa nel bicchiere una dose di assenzio, si appoggia un cucchiaino apposito, forato con una zolletta di zucchero sopra, e con una brocca, si fa gocciolare dell’acqua ghiacciata.
flambè o bohemiènne: si mette prima di tutto il cucchiaino con lo zucchero sopra il bicchiere, si versa l’assenzio bagnando la zolletta di zucchero, fatto questo si incendia la zolletta in modo che il fuoco caramelli lo zucchero che gocciolando infiamma anche l’assenzio, quindi si allunga la miscela con acqua.

L’absinthe, in italiano assenzio,una delle mode che caratterizzarono la fine dell’Ottocento, è un liquore ad alta gradazione alcolica 68º, che si presenta in colore verde smeraldo o verde chiaro ottenuto dalla Artemisia Absinthium, una pianta spontanea che cresce in gran parte dell’Europa e particolarmente in Italia, dove è nota anche come “artemisia maggiore o romana”.
L’assenzio, liquore proibito prima in Francia poi in quasi tutta Europa, Italia inclusa, è passato alla storia come la bevanda alcolica degli artisti.
Pittori, poeti e scrittori da Shakespeare fino ad Hemingway senza dimenticare i maledetti come Verlaine e Rimbaud che dell’assenzio fecero la loro personale dannazione.
Degas, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec poi Picasso ed il nostro Modigliani.
Tra l’uso e l’abuso, la leggenda nefasta e l’esaltazione a musa ispiratrice,   nel 1915 anno della messa al bando definitiva, l’assenzio sparisce dal quotidiano, sbiadisce nella memoria ferita da due guerre mondiali e resta isolato nei versi maledetti come qualcosa di assolutamente estraneo al mondo moderno che all’alba della pace è già alle prese con altri vizi e piaceri illeciti.
Oggi è nuovamente tornato tra di noi.

Borgo Solaio .. le borse di c’era una volta

Oggi vi presento le creazioni di Sabrina Mattei una giovane artista e artigiana che crea e realizza le sue meravigliose borse dal 2014
Quando ho visto per la prima volta le borse create da Sabrina mi è venuta in mente mia nonna Marianna che non si separava mai dalla sua borsa preferita che le aveva creato un artigiano locale e che era praticamente indistruttibile, perché a quei tempi le cose erano fatte per durare
Queste borse intrecciate con nastro di juta e altri materiali sembrano proprio quelle di c’era una volta ma realizzate ai giorni nostri e quindi capaci di soddisfare i gusti moderni
La ricerca e l’abbinamento di materiali di recupero con tessuti unici e pregiati e lo studio di intrecci costituiscono i caratteri peculiari della linea di borse, che include modelli a bauletto, da spalla e pochette
Sabrina parte dall’idea progettuale, disegnando uno schizzo della futura borsa, per poi passare a immaginare la futura realizzazione finale creando un prototipo in dimensioni reali
Una volta creato il modello base, questo viene messo in produzione utilizzando i materiali che Sabrina reperisce di volta in volta, ecco così che nascono così veri e propri “modelli unici in serie”
I materiali principalmente utilizzati nelle collezioni sono la cinghia di juta, lana ed altri filati, una selezione di rasi, velluti e altri tessuti e la immancabile pelle
La realizzazione di ogni singola borsa è piuttosto lunga e complessa e le tempistiche possono variare dalle sette alle dodici ore
Ogni pezzo è internamente foderato in stoffa e, a seconda dei modelli, può includere manici in essenze lignee (come il bambù), in tessuto o in altri materiali; i complementi di finitura (chiusure ed elementi di minuteria) sono in metallo
Del resto siamo in Toscana, patria di quell’artigianato di eccellenza che nel corso degli anni ‘50, ha dato vita all’alta moda fiorentina

Borgo Solaio sta sviluppando un progetto di borsa internet of things, che attraverso la connessione alla rete sia in grado di divulgare storia, manifattura e filiera produttiva di Borgo Solaio (ad esempio facendo utilizzo di QR code, hashtag chip RfID, etc.)
Nel 2017 è tra le aziende scelte da Artex per la 13a edizione del premio Scenari di Innovazione, il concorso internazionale di idee per la progettazione di oggettistica e complementi di arredo
Nel 2018 Borgo Solaio è tra le vincitrici del premio OMA (Osservatorio Mestieri d’Arte) al talento e all’artigianato di qualità
Finalista alla sezione regionale del premi Cambiamenti 2019 organizzato da CNA
L’artista israeliano Yuval Avital nel 2019 ha invitato Borgo Solaio a partecipare, mediante la realizzazione di tre maschere, alla mostra “Nephilìm. Una moltitudine di maschere sonore” presso il Museo Marino Marini di Firenze
È stata inserita nella community Well Made, della Fondazione Cologni, dedicata agli artigiani d’eccellenza

 

 

Borgo Solaio .. the bags of once upon a time

Today I present the creations of Sabrina Mattei a young artist and craftswoman who has created her wonderful bags since 2014
When I first saw the bags created by Sabrina, came to my mind my grandmother Marianna that she never separated from her favorite bag that had created for her a local craftsman and that was practically indestructible, because in those days things were made to last
These bags woven with jute ribbon and other materials seem exactly what they once were but made today and therefore able to satisfy modern tastes
The research and the combination of recycled materials with unique and precious fabrics and the study of weaves are the peculiar characteristics of the line of bags, which includes top-case, shoulder and clutch bag models
Sabrina starts from the design idea, drawing a sketch of the future bag, then moving on to imagine the future final realization by creating a prototype in real size
Once the basic model has been created, it is put into production using the materials that Sabrina finds from time to time, so here are born real “unique models in series”
The materials mainly used in the collections are the jute belt, wool and other yarns, a selection of satin, velvets and other fabrics and the inevitable leather
The realization of each individual bag is quite long and complex and the timing can vary from seven to twelve hours
Each piece is internally lined in fabric and, depending on the models, can include handles in wooden essences (such as bamboo), in fabric or in other materials; the finishing accessories (closures and small parts) are in metal
After all, we are in Tuscany, home of that excellent craftsmanship that during the 1950s gave birth to Florentine high fashion

Oggi voglio presentarvi Sara una bravissima artigiana che vive e lavora a Torino
Per amore delle sue figlie Emma e Matilde, dopo essersi separata dal marito ha lasciato un lavoro fisso per dedicare più tempo alle sue figlie
Grazie ad un’amica è entrata nel magico mondo del crochet che si può sviluppare in centinaia di modi e lei ha scelto di dedicare la sua abilità manuale e creativa alle borse, iniziando a creare modelli unici intrecciando cordini di cotone con la manualità che le ha regalato il suo papà, che per tutta la vita ha intrecciato cesti di vimini
Quando ho visto le sue borse per la prima volta mi sono piaciute a tal punto che ne ho comprate due per regalarle alle mie figlie per il loro compleanno e la cosa bella è che puoi averle personalizzate con i tuoi colori preferiti
A prima vista possono sembrare borse semplici ma sono molto carine, capienti e adatte per tutti i giorni

Questa mattina Paola Marchese, la poliedrica artista nativa di Erice inaugurerà alle 9.30 il suo nuovo show room “ La Bottega dell’Arte “ in via Quattrociocchi 39 a Bagheria in provincia di Palermo
Siamo in Sicilia, patria di un Arte capace di catturare al primo sguardo, proprio come le fantastiche opere di Paola che attraverso il loro caleidoscopio di colori diventano dei veri e propri pezzi unici nel loro genere che vanno dagli arazzi, alla creazione di pochette,abiti,foulard,tessuti e cuscini
Animata dal suo grande amore per l’Oriente e dallo studio delle arti antiche come Batik e Shibori, Paola ha saputo trasferire nelle sue opere d’arte la poesia di un passato ricco di tradizione e di memoria di una civiltà antica ma tuttora presente
Paola ha iniziato a dipingere da bambina e frequentato il liceo artistico per poi continuare a coltivare da autodidatta la sua passione per l’Arte, sempre sostenuta e incoraggiata dai suoi genitori, in particolare da papà Giuseppe
E oggi con l’apertura della sua “ La Bottega dell’Arte “ Paola, trasforma quello che sino a ieri era un sogno in realtà e si prepara a far conoscere la sua Arte ad un pubblico internazionale
Le sue opere hanno sicuramente uno spessore artistico capace di essere apprezzato nel mondo intero, quindi non è difficile credere che possano essere acquistate con grande successo online

This morning Paola Marchese, the multifaceted artist born in Erice will inaugurate her new showroom “La Bottega dell’Arte” at 9.30 in Via Quattrociocchi 39 in Bagheria in the province of Palermo

And today with the opening of her “La Bottega dell’Arte” Paola, she transforms what until yesterday was a dream into reality and is preparing to make her art known to an international audience

Mary Erickson, nata e cresciuta a St.Cloud in Minnesota si è poi trasferita a Bradenton in Florida nel 2000
Ha iniziato a progettare e cucire abiti per la sua bambola all’età di 10 anni e forse il suo precoce appetito europeo per la moda è insito nel suo DNA provenendo la famiglia della madre dall’Alsazia in Francia e quella del padre dalla Lorena in Germania
Da adolescente era solito visitare una piccola boutique dove poteva ammirare i molti cappelli esposti e coltivare quella che un giorno non sarà più una passione ma una vera e propria attività
Ha tre figli ormai adulti, Jana – proprietaria di 27 pizzerie insieme a suo marito Jim, il figlio di mezzo Steve, un pastore con sua moglie JoAnna e Wendy la più giovane, un ministro della salute per Organics for Orphans, Africa, con suo marito Dave
Mary è sempre stata una sarta per se stessa e per le sue due figlie, oltre ad essere consulente di Interior Design & Lease per appartamenti
Nel 2009 dopo un viaggio a Elur in India con il figlio Steve e sua moglie JoAnna ha iniziato a preparare la pubblicazione di un libro per raccogliere fondi per i bambini – cosa che è avvenuta nel 2010 quando è stato pubblicato il libro “ My Wee Book of Rhymes “
I suoi modelli preferiti di vita a cui si ispira sono Madre Teresa di Calcutta, custode dei bambini e Coco Chanel una grande della moda
Da non molto ha messo in scena il secondo atto della sua vita, iniziando a dare vita alle sue interessanti creazioni artistiche avendo ben chiaro che “Per essere insostituibili bisogna essere sempre diversi” e che “Non è mai troppo tardi per essere chiunque tu voglia essere” come recita Brad Pitt nel film “ Il curioso caso di Benjamin Button “
Ha iniziato creando fiori recisi a mano che sono andati ad abbellire cappelli autodidatti e poi strada facendo a iniziato a creare veri e propri cappelli che immancabilmente sono da considerarsi tutti veri e propri pezzi unici
Ha iniziato a partecipare con successo a varie esibizioni, tra cui la recente Palma International Hat Week
Nonostante la sua sia un’attività relativamente giovane, Mary ha un suo negozio online su etsy.com dove presenta buona parte delle sue creazioni
Mary mette una grande passione in questa sua attività e trova un gran piacere nel creare cappelli di stile, aggiungendo ad ognuno di loro una o più finiture che li rendono veramente unici ed originali nel loro genere
Non c’è dubbio che Mary sia sulla buona strada per trovare quel successo che merita nel mondo della modisteria e non è un caso che mentre assisteva sua madre nei suoi ultimi giorni di vita, quest’ultima le disse “ dal tuo cucito arriveranno i soldi per te “, questo succedeva 14 anni fa e nella vita è il caso di dire che non è mai troppo tardi … basta crederci, sempre!

Mary Erickson, born and raised in St.Cloud in Minnesota then moved to Bradenton, Florida in 2000

In 2009, after traveling to Elur in India with her son Steve and his wife JoAnna, she began preparing a book to raise funds for children – thing that happened in 2010 when the book “My Wee Book of Rhymes “was published
Her favorite life models to which she is inspired are Mother Teresa of Calcutta, guardian of children and Coco Chanel a great fashion designer
Not long ago she staged the second act of her life, starting to give life to her interesting artistic creations having it very clear that “To be irreplaceable one must always be different” and that “It is never too late to be anyone you want to be “as Brad Pitt says in the movie” The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
She started by creating hand-cut flowers that went to embellish self-taught hats and then on the way she started to create real hats that all of them must be considered true unique pieces

AlinaYo è una designer di modisteria, cappelli e accessori nata a San Pietroburgo, in Russia
Il successo creativo di Alina è iniziato con la realizzazione manuale dei costumi teatrali, abiti che potrebbero trasformare una persona in una misteriosa creatura fatata
Oltre ad essere brava con l’ago e la visione, ha prestato la massima attenzione alla creazione di costruzioni complesse e volumetriche, imitando i possibili stili di capelli straordinari naturali, forme della testa, corna, dreadlocks, tubi, tentacoli e vegetazione molto prima della nascita di Avatar e Maleficent negli schermi pubblici
Uno dei suoi costumi infeltriti a mano si chiama “L’albero della vita”, con maniche e cappello che imitano i rami e la corona, un altro costume altamente elaborato ricordava l’aspetto di un Arlecchino medievale o Pulcinella, ma poteva anche essere riconosciuto come un elfo islandese da una bella fantasia
Dopo un periodo di collaborazione con artisti e attori in vari festival ed eventi sociali, Alina trasforma le sue capacità lavorative interamente nella progettazione di cappelli e accessori per capelli, spille, spille e fermagli per capelli

AlinaYo is a milliner, hat and accessories designer born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia
Alina’s creative success started with hand making of the theatrical costumes, outfits that could turn a person into a mysterious fairy creature
Also being good with the needle and vision, she put most of attention in creating complex and volumetric constructions, imitating the could-be natural unordinary hair styles, head shapes, horns, dreadlocks, tubes, tentacles and vegetation long before Avatar and Maleficent were born into public screens
One of her hand-felted costumes is referred as “The tree of life”, sleeves and hat imitating the branches and the crown, another highly elaborated costume reminded a look of a medieval Harlequin or Pulcinella, but could be also recognized as an islandic elf from a beautiful fantasy
After a period of collaboration with performers and actors on various festivals and social events, Alina turns her hardworking skills entirely on designing hats and hair accessories, brooches, pins and hairgrips

The major cities like Paris, Berlin, London, New York and Washington were the social melting pots for the 1920’s cultural explosion
Women started to party in clubs, dance for jazz and changed their look by cutting their hair, hat brims and dresses. This was the time of the new iconic flapper look of bobbed hair, long necklaces and flapper hats
In fashion terms, the hats are known to be a very noticeable accessory, because the onlooker’s attention is first drawn to the face
Admitting the individual’s need for self-expression and having a good eye for understanding face features, Alina designs her hats to be elegant and flattering
